Board Information

The Carbondale Park District is a special district of the local government with its own financial and legal responsibilities. It is governed by five elected residents of Carbondale who give their services to the community.

The Carbondale Park District Board of Commissioners meets once a month to conduct the business affairs of the District.

From time to time special meetings of the Board may be called to discuss special or emergency issues.

Residents are invited to attend and are welcome to make suggestions or comments to improve the programs or facilities offered.

The Regular Board meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m. All meetings are held at the Lakeland Center (925 S. Giant City Road), unless otherwise posted.

Board of Commissioners Election

Nominating petition forms for the 2025 Carbondale Park District Board of Commissioners Election will be available beginning September 2024. Forms can be picked up at Hickory Lodge (1115 W. Sycamore St. Carbondale) Monday – Friday, 9 am – 3:30 pm. Candidates elected will serve four-year terms expiring April 2027.
